Evidence organized a training course in the Ericsson Lab Italy headquarters in Rome about the trend of Multi-core devices and the available operating systems and programming standards available for these devices. 

The course structure has been the following:

• Introduction to multicore systems (development problems, scalability, power, Moore's law)
• Architectures for multicore systems (overview of the main multicore architectures, advantages and disadvantages, memory bandwidth, interaction between different processors in a multicore system, FPGAs and multicores)
  
• Operating systems for multicore devices (Overview, programming model, hardware abstractions, Multicore Association, Real-time problems, code placement and process partitioning, software portability on other architectures)
• Multicore examples (The Altera Nios II multicore architecture, examples of code partitioning and of code efficiency)
