New version of SCHED_DEADLINE Linux scheduler available

April 2010

The kernel community is continuing the development of the SCHED_DEADLINE Linux scheduler, whose first versions have been initially implemented and proposed by Evidence Srl. SCHED_DEADLINE is a real-time scheduling class for Linux with bandwidth isolation (AKA "resource reservation") capabilities based on the EDF algorithm.

The new patch (fourth version) of the scheduler supports global/clustered multiprocessor scheduling through dynamic task migrations.
